1st Place in MA Science Olympiad

Since 2008, YDO has made it possible for students in Lawrence to participate in the Massachusetts Science Olympiad. This year’s tournament was held on Saturday, March 3rd at Assumption College in Worcester.

We are thrilled to report that some of our competitors have achieved a new milestone for YDO–finishing in 1st Place! Our winning pair took on an engineering challenge, “Battery Buggy”, which required them to design and build an electric-powered vehicle to traverse a course with considerations for size, speed, alignment, and stopping accuracy.

Our state champions are:

  Christopher Jorge-Rosario (Gr. 8, LCA) & Jose Evangelista (Gr. 7, Frost)
  Coached by Giancarlos Jaime-Guzman (Gr. 10, LHS-ALA) and Doug Prime
